I started running my print making workshops in 2016 after being asked many times at events if I did them. So now I do. The day is always enjoyable and I come away seriously impressed by the talent that is shown. Some have already dabbled and some have never tried it before. All come armed with a very willing spirit and an impressive amount of energy to produce some wonderful work - you can see a few examples in the photographs here.
The workshops usually run from 10am to 4pm with a break for lunch. I provide all the tools and reference material. The day starts with me outlining the basics of the linocut print technique, showing the various cutting tools and demonstrating their use. Everyone can have a good practice, ask questions and sketch out some ideas before drawing up and transferring their chosen design onto the lino.
Once the lino has been cut, I show how to successfully ink up and print the finished block onto art paper. And of course, these finished prints can be taken away and proudly shown around! I hope that it will be a springboard to a new hobby but most importantly, that all will have had a fulfilling and productive day.
If you would like to come along please check the dates and venues shown. For the Artshed at Wistow you can enquire about availability and book directly through me. For the Dotty Gallery please contact Lesley Harris, the proprietor, directly and she will be happy to book you in.
Please note. Due to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, my workshops have been suspended until further notice. However, please feel free to contact me and I will be very happy to let you know when they are able to start up again. In the meantime, everyone please stay safe.
My main two venues for workshops are the Artshed at the Wistow Gallery in Wistow and the Dotty Gallery in Twyford (both in Leicestershire). I also do some occasional workshops at Rutland Water and the Sock Gallery in Loughborough.
At the Artshed drinks are available in the gallery and food can be obtained from the lovely deli or café on site or people are welcome to bring their own packed lunches if they wish. Drinks are available all day at the Dotty Gallery and participants can bring a packed lunch or even order from the village pub. Which I can definitely recommend.
